With the discovery that Aesir has created a top-secret drug for the military, Valkyr, that creates super soldiers but also what appear to be visions of winged demons, and that it's now out on the streets, Max and Mona end up making an unlikely investigative duo who want to find those responsible for the deaths of their loved ones. Natasha's death doesn't please her machine gun toting sister, Mona Sax (MILA KUNIS), who wants justice, while Max's former partner, cop Alex Balder (DONAL LOGUE), also ends up dead just when he thinks he's found a connection between Natasha and Max's wife's deaths. Hensley (BEAU BRIDGES), the former cop partner to Max's dad turned head of security for Aesir Pharmaceuticals, the place where Max's wife last worked for executive Jason Colvin (CHRIS O'DONNELL) and, indirectly, CEO Nicole Horne (KATE BURTON).

The news, however, draws concern from B.B. When she ends up dead and Max's wallet is found near her dismembered body, the cop becomes the prime suspect, especially for Internal Affairs detective Jim Bravura (CHRIS "LUDACRIS" BRIDGES). His investigation often leads him into the city's underbelly, making him run into thugs such as Jack Lupino (AMAURY NOLASCO), but also the alluring Natasha (OLGA KURYLENKO).

PLOT: Max Payne (MARK WAHLBERG) is a cop who works the cold case division, mainly in hopes of finding the third man who killed his wife and child years earlier. QUICK TAKE: Drama/Action: A widowed cop tries to find his wife and child's killer, an investigation that leads him to a pharmaceutical company whose top secret drug causes hallucinations of flying demons. (2008) (Mark Wahlberg, Beau Bridges) (PG-13)
